History
West Bengal State AIDS Prevention & Control Society was registered under the Society Registartion Act 1961 vide registration no. S/90724 of 1998-99. According the World Bank directives the National AIDS Control Organisation took up the initiative to launch the National AIDS Control Programme through the state registered societies of the each state. The aim of this initiative was implementation of the programme through quick decision making and to allow smooth flow of funds.
The NACP was implemented in different phases-
- 1 First phase of NACP was implemented through State AIDS Cell under the directorate of Health Services during the period upto June,99
- 2 Second Phase of the NACP was implemented through West Bengal State AIDS Prevention and Control Society during the period from 01.07.99 to 31.03.07
- 3 Currently WBSAPCS is operating under the NACP , Phase III The phase III commenced from 01.04.07 and it was officially launched on 06.07.07 . The NACP-III would be implemented as a 100% centrally sponsored scheme during the 11th Five year plan with assistance from Global Fund for HIV/AIDS , TB/Malaria etc. In NACP-III emphasis has been given on having a sound management structure with appropriate skills and competencies. NACO has requested to fill up all the vacancies particularly related to Finance, Procurement and Key positions to fulfil one of the conditions of the loan obtained from the World Bank for supporting NACP-III
- 4 West Bengal has been put in category-I by NACO and the following regular and contractual posts have been approved for West Bengal State AIDS Prevention and Control Society under NACP-III
